To reviesw around this bug, I had to replace my cash acct with a fake checking account and copy over the transactions. The next problem I ran into is is that transactions from my checking acct are no longer being downloaded. It says no transactions found even though i can see 8 new transactions at my banks website.

I got more accurate results from Web Connect than Direct Connect. It revolved around the last days available transactions. I am SO disappointed with Intuit right now! I converted to Mac at Christmas and waited 2 frkn months for the Mac Essentials version.
This made me return the product. The balance column is constantly in the minus if the balance the day before is too low. The adjustment of the register puts you way off even mac you do the most simple reconcile.
There is no help either from the program reviews the personnel about what the start fresh feature is I for it is a batch check-off function to flag every unreconciled item from the 2010 ending date back to the beginning of the account a year ago which begs the question, how does the for remember what checks quicken not yet cleared the bank if the start fresh feature checks them mac off 2010 reconciled when they certainly are not.

Paul, with the growing number of PC to Mac converts and the market share Quicken has in PC users of financial software products could you offer an opinion as to why Intuit seems to be missing the boat on properly supporting their customer base? Do you think it is just a matter of time for Intuit to create a Mac analogue to the PC product? I think they felt pressured to get a product out for the Mac and rather than waiting until they had the development cycles to do a full blown version they opted for a simpler package in Quicken Essentials.
I honestly believe that they will come out with a full fledged platform for both or go a different route and leverage a platform like Adobe Air that will let the software run on multiple platforms, PC, Mac and Linux.
It is mint. It was announced long ago that Intuit was going to buy Mint. I was almost suckered in to. Yeah feedback is that many of the developers of Mint helped to build this version as they are mostly mac users. There is definitely a population of people that will only use standalone financial software though which is what this product targets.
QFM is not worth buying. Its seems like they just gave up half way through.

So I tried to download from my banks, and Quicken sent a message saying that I must Upgrade. I have now no recent Bank data on my Mac and I have to find different software.
Quicken has deteriorated over the past few years into what can only be described as a disaster. The program frequently stops working for bank downloads. My experience since the download has been frustrating. These include: sync issues with many of my financial institutions and random deletions of previously reconciled transactions that gives me an inaccurate balance.

Interesting comparison! I have the original DOS Quicken and packages for every years since. It was getting bad — as far as the insignificant improvements — but the new acquisition seems to be investing some time and energies into the package again. The subscription is out of the MS playbook and other companies so expect that to be here for a while.
Just glad it sold to someone who has a vested interest in improving. It is slow to respond, the screen jumps when moving from one area to another such as business to create invoices. The incredible slowness is frustrating. I am trying to find another product I can migrate to.
When the company wants you to change to newer version- you get an automatic download that screws your program- making you upgrade. So frustrated. Have also used Q for over 15 years!! I renew every 3 years just to have online compatibility and capabilities but this is killing me. Similar Experience here. I had been a long time quicken user from the mids and stopped using it about 7 years ago. I got inspired to better track my finances and tried to us the version I still had installed. It was effectively disabled by quicken who forced me to upgrade the new subscription format.
I gave it the old college try and spent about 5 hours trying to get my accounts to load correctly and display an accurate balance. I finally gave up on the automatic updates. I was able to connect, but could not get the balances to reconcile against the transactions. So I switched to manually entering the balances on my investment accounts.

Just hit 30 years of using Quicken. I would blame 2010 poor state of Quicken on Intuit losing interest when the product was up for sale. Yes…Intuit had the superior product and it was soooo reliable. But it got to be a problematic program. I have hopes that the new owners will invest time, money and some real thought listen to long time users!
I am a firm believer in paying for software. The software is now worse than free software. The money spent is no going into development. I have been using Quicken for over 20 years. Intuit cannot find where it was paid even though my bank account has been charged for this online payment. They refuse to pay stop payment fees and late charges.
No more Quicken bill payments for me. I checked out the competition and I was not impressed. I do not want a cloud-based program and I have been working with Quicken for at least 20 years. I might add the sales guy was real nice and aided in the installation but I have since called back to speak to support only to get people whose accent was such I could not understand them. Beware when calling Quicken and make sure you are calling the Quicken number.
